Three Exceptional Central Catholic Athletes Sign at Ohio Colleges
Central Catholic High School proudly announces that three outstanding student-athletes have committed to Ohio colleges.
Laureli McMahon, a versatile athlete, is on both the Crusader Softball and Swim Teams, has signed with Capital University to pursue nursing. Holding a 4.3 GPA, she is also keeps busy as a member of National Honor Society and the CCHS Pickleball Club. She shares that she selected Capital University because she, “likes the homey atmosphere and it’s distance from home.” Laureli is the daughter of Janice and Shawn McMahon and they are members of SS. Philip & James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton.
Violet Ellerbrock has committed to play softball at Marietta College and will study sports management. She is a busy student-athlete who is a member of the CCHS Softball Team, CCHS Basketball Team, CAST Service Organization, National Honor Society, and Spanish Club, all while maintaining 3.8 GPA. Violet is a 4-year varsity letterman in softball and a 3-year varsity letterman in basketball. She has selected Marietta because the “campus has a great atmosphere and the girls I’ve met are nice.” Violet is the daughter of Vanetta and Rich Ellerbrock and they are members of SS. Philip & James Catholic Church.
Lauren Neisel, a standout volleyball player, has committed to Otterbein University where she will major in business. She holds a GPA of 4.27, is student council vice president, a member and officer of the National Honor Society, and is part of the CCHS Liturgy Worship Team. Her accolades include Stark County First Teams in 2022 and 2023, she was the District 4 Division 4 Player of the Year in 2022, and a leading member of the Crusaders Volleyball Team who made it to the Final Four this year and Regional Semi-Finals in 2022. She selected Otterbein because “of the campus community, the surrounding city of Columbus, and the strong volleyball program.” Lauren is the daughter of Bridgette & Steve Neisel and they are members of St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton.
Central Catholic High School extends its heartfelt congratulations to Laureli, Violet, and Lauren on their remarkable achievements. Their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship are obvious to those who know them. We wish them continued success as they embark on this exciting new chapter in their academic and athletic careers.
