Matching gift received from the estate of William P. Blair, III

The Canton Symphony Orchestra has been generously gifted $100,000 from the estate of William P. Blair, III, who passed away suddenly on February 2nd, 2023. This gift has been designated for use as a matching goal for the Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann Memorial campaign, with the match ending on June 30th, 2024. For the match, every dollar raised since September 19, 2023 will be counted. So far, the fund has raised $66,420.

Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann Memorial Fund

The Canton Symphony Orchestra will use the proceeds from this concert to establish and kick-start the Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann Endowment Fund, which will be used to support the MasterWorks series. Dividends received from this fund will sponsor a MasterWorks concert every season in perpetuity under Gerhardt’s name. 

The conclusion of the campaign will unveil a “Legacy Wall” within the lobby of the Zimmermann Symphony Center, which will feature portraits of and excerpts regarding prominent figures throughout the CSO’s history, all of which will surround Gerhardt.
