Stark County Arts News: MassMu Offers October Ceramics Open Studio Sessions

MassMu Offers October Ceramics Open Studio Sessions

The Frank Harrison Ceramics Studio at the Massillon Museum will welcome adults who have previously studied ceramics at MassMu or another institution to participate in the open studio program on either Wednesdays or Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. No instruction is available, but participants may use the studio for any amount of time during the open hours. The number of registrants is limited to allow maximum availability of the pottery wheels and studio equipment.

Registration for the ceramics open studio in October is now being accepted. Contact Stephanie Toole, education and outreach manager, at 330-833-4061 x104.

The monthly fee is $50 ($40 per MassMu member). New participants are welcome as space permits. All new participants will complete a screening assessment available on the Museum's website. The fee includes use of tools, wheels, and glazes, as well as firing. Participants should purchase a 25-pound bag from the Museum for $25. (Outside clay must be approved by the ceramics studio manager.)

The Massillon Museum is grateful for operating support from the Ohio Arts Council, ArtsinStark, and the citizens of Massillon, as well as marketing support from Visit Canton. This open studio opportunity is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city lots. For more information, call the Museum at 330-833-4061 or visit massillonmuseum.org.
