Ranger Walks
Join law enforcement rangers for a one-mile guided walk on the Sandy Valley Trail meeting at the Maple Street Trailhead on March 4th from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Rangers will share how they protect wildlife and visitors, and the importance of conservation. The program is free, but registration is required at StarkParks.com.
Backyard Habitat: Intro
This program is just one in a series of programs to help certify your backyard as a valuable and sustainable ecosystem for wildlife. Participants will receive instructions about getting their yard the "Certified Backyard Habitat" designation by Stark Parks naturalists. Class is held at Sippo Lake Park at the Exploration Gateway on March 5th from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Pre-registration is required. Species Spotlight – Coyote
Join us at the Wildlife Conservation Center at Sippo Lake Park West to explore the fascinating world of coyotes and the vital role enrichment plays in their care. Visitors will meet Girlfriend, our resident coyote, learn about her story, and watch her in action during a live enrichment demonstration. There will be two drop-in opportunities at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 7th. No registration is required.
Sap to Syrup
Discover the magic of maple syrup by joining us for this sweet adventure of sap tapping, collecting, boiling, and syrup tasting on March 14th at Quail Hollow Park from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. This hands-on program is designed for curious beginners and aspiring syrup maker. Drop in and visit each station on your own or take a guided tour with a naturalist to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience to make your own pure maple syrup.
Yeti Trail Challenge – event rescheduled from February
Get ready for a unique outdoor adventure at Fry Family Park on March 21st with the Yeti Trail Challenge. This exciting 5-mile course is packed with surprises and activities inspired by the legendary creature itself. Along the trail, you’ll encounter various Yeti-themed challenges designed to test your skills. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking to enjoy a fun day outdoors, this family-friendly challenge is an adventure you won’t want to miss. Don't forget to wear your best trail gear, bring your friends, and get ready to run, walk, or jog your way through the course. Doors open at 9:00 AM, and you can start the challenge anytime between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM. This event is open to people of all ages. The trails are not conducive to strollers and will not be groomed for the event. Warm up after the run with free hot chocolate in the visitor center. Pre-registration is required and the fee is $5.00 per person.
Adventure Kids
Dive into the world of amphibians by reading a book, going on an outdoor frogging hike, working on a craft, and meeting a frog or two. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required. All programs are held at Sippo Lake Park at the Exploration Gateway. Dates include March 18th ages 3 – 5 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM and March 21st ages 6 – 9 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Pre-registration required.
Signs of Spring Hike
Winter is officially over, and spring is in full swing. Lace up your boots and join us as we hike the trails of Walborn Reservoir on March 28th from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM to look for signs of spring. Pre-registration required.
Yoga
The hour-long yoga sessions will leave you feeling relaxed and strong. Certified yoga instructor Kim Kohler will help you challenge yourself while working at your own level in a safe and supportive environment at Sippo Lake Park: Exploration Gateway. Modifications are offered to appeal to all skill levels. Pre-registration is required, and you will need to bring a mat. Dates include March 2nd, 7th, 14th, 16th, 21st, and 23rd. Namaste for a Drink is March 9th at Tam O’Shanter Park from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM and you must be 21 or over to register. Fees are $8 for in-county and $12 for out-of-county residents.
