MassMu Brown Bag Lunch “The History of the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic”
Learn about the oldest women’s heritage society in America at the Massillon Museum’s Brown Bag Lunch on Tuesday, March 26, beginning at 12:10 p.m. The event will conclude about 12:50 p.m. to accommodate guests on their lunch hours.
Three current national board members of the congressionally chartered Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic will talk about their organization. Lynne Bury, who currently serves as national historian, is a past national president having served three terms. She is writing a book on the history on the organization’s history. National Secretary Elizabeth Rock is a two-term past national president and is chairman of the organization’s National Headquarters & Museum. Janice Stevenson is serving as both national treasurer and state president.
Stevenson says, “All three of us serve our nonprofit with a love of history, compassion for veterans, and willingness to donate time and effort to community service and patriotic projects.”
The Brown Bag Lunch series is free and open to everyone. Guests may bring lunch or purchase sandwiches, salad, and smoothies at Greatness Cafe in the Museum lobby. MassMu provides complimentary cookies and coffee for attendees. Galleries will be open before and after the Brown Bag Lunch.
