Stark County Artists Exhibition Opens November 2
The Massillon Museum’s 2024 Stark County Artists Exhibition will open Saturday, November 2, with a free public reception from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Awards will be announced at 7:00 p.m. The exhibition will continue through January 12, 2025.
The exhibition is annually open to present and former Stark County residents and to those currently working in Stark County, eighteen years and older. Artwork in any medium is considered.
MassMu’s Main Gallery will include 67 works of art selected from 215 submitted by 86 artists, 49 of whom are represented in the show.
This year’s jurors were: Orlando Caraballo, Cleveland-based artist and arts administrator; Colleen George Suich, Curator of Collections, The Butler Institute of American Art; and Autumn Bland, photographer and producer, Todd Biss Productions. They selected artwork to be included in the exhibition as well as prize winners: Best in Show, $300; Second Place, $200; and Third Place, $100. Visitors throughout the exhibition will vote for the People’s Choice Award, $100, which will be announced in January.

The Stark County Artists Exhibition can be seen Tuesdays through Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Years Day. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free and everyone is welcome.
The artists’ reception for the Studio M exhibition, Through the Looking Glass—porcelain sculpture by Kimberly Chapman—will be concurrent with the Stark County Artists Exhibition opening.
Visitors on November 2 can also view Aaron Siskind: A Survey of Life in Harlem during the Great Depression, 90 Years of Community: The Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club, Brown’s Town: Art Inspired by Ohio’s Football Heritage, the Paul Brown/Massillon Tigers Football History Timeline, the Immel Circus, the Local History Gallery, Innovators of Massillon, Ethiopian Expedition of 1903, and the Albert E. Hise Fine and Decorative Arts Gallery.
